| A number of other rare and endangered species can be found e.g. Mt Kenya Mole Shrew, Sunni Bucks, skinks (lizard) and a variety of owls. Occasional sightings have been recorded of the albino zebra. The high altitude heath at the top (3,000 - 3,500 m) is generally open, dotted with African Sage, Protea and Helichrysum shrubs. The peak (above 3,500 m) is moorland with little game other than the high altitude zebra and eland. Accommodation for your African safari is available at Mount Kenya Safari Club or Mountain Lodge. We also recommend climbing Mount Kenya as a full day trek or a complete seven days Sirimon & Naro Moro Trek on Mount Kenya. |
