FINCH HATTONS CAMP

Nestling at the foot of the Chyulu Hills in Tsavo West National Park is Finch Hattons. Finch Hattons is travellers dream of the ideal, the genuine conservation friendly luxury safari camp. It was named after the aristocrat, who introduced royalty to the African safari bush, and whose style was impeccable. For Denys, Mozart and cut crystal were essential kit. This style gave birth to the ideal, that is Finch Hattons.

Under canvas? Yes but it is hardly ‘roughing it’. The tent is equipped with deluxe beds, and all of the amenities of a room as in a five star hotel i.e. supply of electricity (220 & 110), fully stocked mini-bar, private bathroom, and generous slate walled shower room, both complete with hot and cold running water, primarily solar heated.

Finch Hattons is unfenced, and lions, buffalos, elephants, giraffe, plains game (including Lesser Kudu) come and go as they please. They are most welcome, as this is their home, shared with resident hippos and crocs. The former are sure to pass by many of the tents at night, for this is their time for grazing. The main lodge comprises of a dining hall, bar, lounge and terrace, where breakfast is served overlooking the main Hippo pool against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. Adjacent to the lounge is the mezzanine library - a favorite spot for post-prandial coffees and delicious petit fours.
