WATAMU, KENYA

Watamu is located on the North of Mombasa and is the fastest growing beach community on the coast of Kenya. Watamu beach major attraction is Watamu Marine National Park, which has superb scuba diving, snorkeling and deep sea fishing experiences. Common species found while snorkeling at Watamu Marine Park are the butterfly fish, angelfish, hawkfish, jewelfish and many others. Low tide is the best time for snorkeling at Watamu Marine Park. At the end of Watamu is a drowned river valley, the Mida Creek. It is lined with low-lying mangrove swamp and mud flats. Boating to Mida Creek is a pleasant way to spend one of your morning's or afternoon's, and it can even be combined with visit to Gedi Ruins.
